Kavi Reserve is the harmonization of cold brew coffee and Canadian Whisky. It is expertly crafted with natural ingredients in small batches by a team of family and friends. The coffee and whisky are made specifically to complement each other and are blended in barrels for a smooth mellow finish.

Our Process

It took over two years to perfect the process behind Kavi Reserve. We wanted to ensure that we had perfected the blending, maturing, brewing and marrying process before sharing Kavi Reserve with others. We are confident that we have truly found the best way to bring coffee and whisky together.


Maturing

At Wolfhead distillery, our master blender uses a handcrafted process to further mature the whisky blend, developing a greater oak mouthfeel and vanilla sweetness in the whisky. These notes marry exceptionally well with the rich coffee tastes.

The Maturing process

Brewing

Our unique cold brewing method, which involves steeping of the coffee beans in cold water and in whisky, extracts the ideal combination of bold and mellow coffee flavours, while minimizing oils and bitter tannins. This unhurried brewing process takes two and a half days. The coffee is further refined by adding a slight amount of sweetness and a touch of vanilla to enhance its profile once it is combined with the whisky.

Marrying

We blend the whisky with the ideal amount of coffee in 200 litre charred oak barrels. It is then patiently rested to allow the coffee and whisky to unify into one beautiful amber liquid. This barrel finishing adds complexity to the blend and produces the exceptionally smooth mellow finish.
